Oculus Home Summer Sale Discounts These 40 Top VR Games

Now that the Oculus Rift is officially a shipping product its software marketplace, Oculus Home, is becoming a larger and larger part of a VR gamer’s life. The store already had its fair share of victories, updates, and even controversies. But now, it seems to be following the successful trend started by other online game distributors like Steam and doling out a healthy amount of good Summertime vibes to customers through a big sale.

There are 40 games in total being discounted as a part of the “Oculus Home Summer Sale.” However, as with any sale, there are some high value targets here that deserve consideration first and foremost as you decide where to spend those precious pennies.

Let’s kick things off with the three best games on sale before jumping into the entire list. Feast your eyes on these babies:

Windlands: $19.99 – $15.99

Windlands

Shut up. Stop reading. Stop thinking. Stop breathing (but just for a little while, safety first people). If you own an Oculus Rift and have not played Windlands yet then forget Mexico, I want Donald Trump to build a wall around you.

In my opinion this is not only the best game on the Oculus Rift, but arguably the best VR video game on the market today. It has an amazing sense of scale, a perfect movement system, and breathtaking visuals.

It’s also the closest we’ve ever been to a Spider-Man VR game. If you need more than that to buy a game then I must respectfully ask you to get behind your wall – #MakeVRGreatAgain.

Chronos: $49.99 – $39.99

Chronos Concept Art 3

At $49.99, Chronos was one of the Oculus Rift’s most expensive launch titles. As a result, expectations were high and, while it mostly delivered on its promise, there are still many waiting for a price drop before giving Chronos a chance.

Chronos is a third person VR dungeon crawler with a twist. Every time your character dies in the game (and you will die in the game), a year of time passes and he or she begins to age. You might start your Chronos journey as a strong young man, but you may end it as a wizened old man who needs to focus more on spell casting.

The core mechanic is interesting, the combat is fun, and the puzzles will certainly force you to think. $10 is also one of the more substantial price drops in the Summer Sale, making Chronos more enticing than ever to those that have been waiting to draw their swords and join the adventure.

Blaze Rush: $9.99-$4.99

blazerush

Whenever an online marketplace does a sale like this there is always that one game that simply becomes too cheap not to buy. For this sale that game is Blaze Rush.

Racing games in VR usually try to give you a rush of speed and adrenaline by placing you directly into the driver’s seat. Blaze Rush, however, focuses more on arcadey action, power-ups, and just plain fun by employing a top down, Hotwheels-come-to-life design.

$4.99 is an absolute steal for a game with so much going for it and you owe it to yourself to give it a chance if for no other reason than to have it sit unplayed in your Oculus library making you feel guilty for not playing it.

And, in the end, isn’t that what these sales are all about?

The Full List

These are just what I consider to be the best value-for-price options in the sale. There are still 37 other titles just waiting to be picked up and played on either your Oculus Rift and Samsung Gear VR.
